The Nine Lives of Dave McKean


From The Sandman to The Gospel of Us, explore the multi-faceted, multi-media creativity of this extraordinary storyteller and image-maker who spans comics, illustration and design for print and online, animation, film-directing, installation, music, performance and more.

As well as his solo productions and his collaborations with Neil Gaiman, Richard Dawkins, Heston Blumenthal and others, McKean will also discuss his latest ‘Nine Lives’ project, premiered in October at the Graphic Festival in Sydney Opera House. A Comica Conversation with Paul Gravett. Ends with book signings.

Dave McKean will not only be talking to Comica Co-Director Paul Gravett about his recent and future projects, he will also be offering the first ever UK Previews of his ambitious new project entitled Nine Lives. Earlier this month, Dave was invited to Sydney Opera House, the prestigious venue for Australia’s most innovative multi-arts comics festival Graphic, where he performed on the piano and sung vocals to this exciting set of new illustrated and composed stories. Dave and Paul will also be in conversation about Gravett’s new book Comics Art from Tate Publishing, which features a number of his most innovative projects, including his Hypercomics installation ‘The Rut’.
