Jewish Film Festival 2012 presents The Art of Spiegelman

An extraordinary invitation from the Jewish Film Festival 2012 to step inside the studio, and world, of Maus creator Art Spiegelman. The documentary The Art of Spiegelman (Director: Clara Kuperberg, Joëlle Oosterlinck) combines remarkable archive footage with intimate interviews with the artist and his family.

In 1992 Spiegelman won the Pulitzer Prize for his story of Jews depicted as mice, and Nazis as cats, based on his father’s experience of the Holocaust, which had been “muzzled” thus far. The book has since been translated into 18 languages, with Spiegelman himself being named as one of Time Magazine’s Top 100 Most Influential People Of The Century. Privileged viewing.

Followed by a panel discussion on graphic novels. Guests include Sarah Lightman, Comic Researcher and Curator, and Corinne Pearlman, Creative Director of Myriad Editions and Cartoonist.

Screening with In The Shadow Of No Towers.

Tickets: £8/ £5 concs. Click here!
Where: Tricycle Cinema, 269 Kilburn High Rd, NW6 7JR
