A SALEM BROWNSTONE SPOOKTACULAR!
Because having Halloween once a year is simply too seldom, come join the creators of occult investigator Salem Brownstone the weekend before Halloween at the ICA for an all-night Spooktacular! Opening the door to the spirit world a week early with suitably uncanny events, including conversation, films, and DJ’s in the bar. Pleasant nightmares!

Victorian-noir graphic novel Salem Brownstone: All Along the Watchtowers by writer John Harris Dunning and artist Nikhil Singh (Walker Books) plunges readers through the astral gates to psychedelic other worlds. The great comics wizard Alan Moore called it “a wonderfully imaginative and stylish piece of work and a perfect example of the adventurous new directions that comic books should be taking in the future.” Film ace Harmony Korine said, “Salem Brownstone kicked my ass and made me believe in the beautiful darkness of the world again.” Be sure to check out the Salem Brownstone Youtube preview. Film: Late-Night Occult Double-Bill
Salem Brownstone learned plenty of tricks from celluloid magician Kenneth Anger, a Sixties counterculture icon steeped in the occult. Inauguration Of The Pleasure Dome is a lush orgy of colour and textures, starring one of L. Ron Hubbard’s flame-haired girlfriends and writer Anais Nin as the goddess Astarte. It is both a magical ritual, and a snapshot of the underground LA scene of the Fifties. Invocation Of My Demon Brother is mesmerizing eye candy starring Bobby Beausoleil, cute blonde hippy, and Manson murderer. A more brutal form of magic all round. Get your book signed by the Salem creators and have a pint while writer, broadcaster and international DJ Jonny Trunk summons scary sounds to keep things disquieting. Trunk, an expert in that strange genre of sound known only as ‘library’, runs Trunk Records and produces his own soundtrack show on London’s Resonance FM. Also expect spellbinding noises from ICA podcaster Death to the King and Lady Hemlock. More…
