His journalistic graphic novel Palestine was acclaimed by Edward Said as “a political and aesthetic work of extraordinary originality”. Six years after being invited to the first Comica Festival in 2003, the acclaimed war-reportage cartoonist returns to discuss his journalistic comics including assignments to Iraq and his native Malta, and to preview the long-awaited sequel to Palestine. In Footnotes In Gaza (out early 2010 from Jonathan Cape), Sacco seeks the truth about a massacre in 1956 of 111 Palestinian refugees in Rafah and uncovers the tragic echoes between wars past and present. In conversation with Roger Sabin, comics historian and Reader in Popular Culture at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. Followed by book signing. More…
