The New Culture of German Comics

Conceived by the Goethe-Institut and Matthias Schneider, Comics, Manga & Co. The New Culture of German Comics presents two generations of German comics artists: the avant-garde that paved the way for the emergence of an independent culture of German comics, and a generation of younger comics artists whose work embraces new aesthetic and narrative aspects. The exhibition and the catalogue, which includes additional texts by Matthias Schneider, aims to provide insight into the diverse world of German comics. Exhibiting artists are Arne Bellstorf, Anke Feuchtenberger, Flix, Jens Harder, Sascha Hommer, Line Hoven, Ulf K., Reinhard Kleist, Isabel Kreitz, Mawil, Christina Plaka, Martin Tom Dieck and Henning Wagenbreth.
Admission to the exhibition is free and the opening times are Monday-Thursday 1pm-7pm, Saturday 1pm-5pm, closed Friday and Sunday,
Alongside the exhibition, the Goethe-Institut London in association with Comica Festival is organising a programme of events, including conversations with Anke Feuchtenberger and comics author and historian Andreas Knigge, as well as a Manga & Cosplay Night with Christina Plaka, and a scraperboard workshop by Line Hoven, who will also be attending the Comica Comiket Fair on Saturday November 10th.
