Mamoru Oshii: The Sky Crawlers



The latest film from anime visionary Mamoru Oshii (Ghost In The Shell; Avalon) is set in a future world where perpetual adolescents known as Kildren fight virtual airborne wargames to provide an entertaining alternative to real-life conflict. Although the Kildren have evolved without memories or emotions, one flyboy begins to experience the tug of a life beyond the cockpit. Amazing animation that possesses a genuine feeling of texture and weight brings a gravity to this moral tale, making it one of Oshii’s most affecting works to date. More…
