PERSEPOLIS

Marjane Satrapi’s award-winning series of graphic novels about growing up in Iran during the 1970s and 1980s becomes an award-winning animated film. Smart, funny and distinctive, the film follows the books faithfully both in narrative and visual style, which is no surprise given that Satrapi herself is one of the film’s two co-directors. A wonderful achievement - newcomers will be enchanted and fans will enjoy re-living these experiences all over again.

Dir. Marjane Satrapi, Vincent Paronnaud, France 2007, 95 mins, subtitles.

Where: Cinema 1, ICA, The Mall, London
When: Tuesday, November 6, 2007 - 8.45pm
