The Joy Of Toy
A retrospective exhibition of some of the landmark pieces by sub-culture artists and designers who work in the contemporary pop art medium of character and toy design.
The sub-culture of the vinyl toy, sometimes referred to as designer vinyl or art toys, has been steadily growing over the past decade. With companies such as Kidrobot exhibiting in Selfridges and adFunture Workshop exhibiting in the V&A, its unabated growth in popularity is both a niche consumer market and an art movement in itself. These aren’t the sort of toys to be played with, they are collected treasured and cared as affordable art pieces, produced in limited quantities and the rarer the better! Alongside the exhibition there will be a gallery pop-up shop and special artist signings of products.
Iconic pieces by artists such as Kaws, Michael Lau, Eric So, Bounty Hunter and James Jarvis will be displayed alongside a collection of prints, drawings and paintings. More…
