Busted Jesus Comix is based on the true life story of Mike Diana, a Tallahassee teenager who wrote a comic book that was ruled obscene by a Florida court and sentenced to three years probation and a $3000 fine. From this incident David Johnston has created ‘Marco’ a runaway teenager who recounts his troubled past to the manager of Dazzle Cups Diner, New York, in a series of flashbacks. This serio-comic play takes swipes at the religious right, homophobes and priggish community leaders. More…
